Kia ora, my name is Amy Simpkin, also known as Jack's mum or 'that soccer lady'. I was born and raised in Ruawai and after some time away from Northland, returned with my family in 2021 and settled in Morningside. My son Jack is currently part of Team Kea and we are loving being part of the Morningside whānau.
I believe in the power and importance of building strong, connected and resilient community, with the school being central to that. I am looking to join the school board to continue to help foster the schools commitment to building great communities, supporting the development of our teachers, parents and most importantly, our tamariki.
In my day job I work for the Regional Economic Development agency in the Destination Team, building value for communities throughout Northland through tourism. Outside of work I am an avid home sewer, enjoy pottering in my veggie garden, coach Grade 6 soccer and enjoy visiting all of Northlands beaches and tourism gems. I also make a mean rice bubble slice - 5 year old approved.
Thank you for your support and I look forward to being part of the board and getting to know our school community better.
