How to enrol your child/children

Morningside School Enrolment Zone

All students who live within the home zone described below (map available at the school office)
shall be entitled to enrol at Morningside School

Travelling North along State Highway 1, the zone begins at the intersection with South End Avenue, and continues North (all properties on the right hand side in zone) until it reaches Central Avenue.

It then travels East along Central Avenue (both sides of Central Avenue and any no exit roads coming off it are included in the zone), Walton Street and Quayside (only properties on the Southern side of the roads included in zone) until it reaches Hatea River.

The zone travels South down Hatea River (all properties on the Western side in zone), turns West and travels up Limeburner’s Creek, and then overland to link in with the Eastern end of South End Avenue (all properties to the North included).

It continues along South End Avenue (all properties on the Northern side included) until it reaches SH1.

Proof of residence in the home zone will be required.

In-Zone Enrolments

For an in-zone enrolment, please visit the school office and fill out an enrolment form.

You will need to bring with you:

  • Proof of your residential address

  • Your child’s birth certificate or passport, which we will photocopy

  • Immunisation records

  • B4SC records (Before School Checks)

  • Vision and hearing or speech records

  • Medication information including allergy records and action plans

Out of Zone Enrolments

Each year the Board will determine the number of places that may be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone.

The deadline for out of zone enrolment applications for term 4 2018 is 4th September.  If necessary a ballot for available places will be held on 6th September.

There will be four enrolment periods in 2019 coinciding with each school term.  The deadlines for receiving out of zone applications for each school term in 2019 will be:

  • November 20, 2018 for Term 1

  • March 12, 2019 for Term 2

  • June 11, 2019 for Term 3

  • September 3, 2019 for Term 4

Should a ballot be necessary for any enrolment period, it will be held two days following the close of applications for out of zone enrolments.

Applications for enrolments will be processed in the following order of priority:

  • This priority is not applicable at this school, because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary for Education

  • Siblings of current students

  • Siblings of former students

  • Children of former students

  • Children of board employees

  • All other applicants

If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group must be by ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under Section 11G(1) if the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a daily or community newsletter circulating in the area served by the school.

Applicants seeking second or third priority status will be required to give proof of a sibling relationship.
